Business-Class Broadband Provider comes to Miami, Florida

With a strategic demographic advertising campaign already underway, WISP Networks is looking forward to becoming the first non Line-of-Sight wireless business T-1 provider in the market.

MIAMI, FLORIDA, July 24, 2002 - WISP Networks, the leader in non Line-of-sight wireless Internet connectivity for the South Florida region, announced today that it has chosen Miami as it's newest expansion location.

"Our advertising campaign has been running for several weeks and has already started producing results," said Janet Grezlovski, Director of Marketing for WISP Networks. "If that response is any indication, it's clear there is a huge demand for business-class high-speed wireless access to the Internet. " According to Grezlovski, several businesses in Miami are looking for a true symmetrical connection to the Internet and are tired of the problems and long delays they must endure to obtain DSL or cable modem service.

"Cable and DSL are primarily residential-type products," said Grezlovski. "They provide decent download speeds, but what if you need to upload large files as well? At an average of 128 kilobits per second (kbps), the speeds for uploads are slow at best. And if you host your own website, slow uploads affect your current and potential customers and can ultimately cost you money. Depending upon the time of day and the number of users on a cable modem system, even the downloads can slow down dramatically."

With WISP Network's solution, offices are linked to the Internet via a non line-of-sight customer premise wireless access point equipment CPWAPE via Ethernet or USB cable connection to their computer from anywhere in their office building. The CPWAPE communicates wirelessly with WISP Network's Point of Presence (POP), which is directly connected via fiber to the Internet. This system avoids the high costs and delays of digging up streets to install a fiber optic infrastructure.

"Our target market is small to medium sized businesses throughout the Miami Dade area. And because we are not restricted by the limitations of cable and fiber, WISP Networks is able to provide service to industrial parks and single tenant buildings that were previously considered out of range and not able to get service at any price. Our immediate focus is on spreading the word and letting people know that a new high-speed business solution is now available," said Grezlovski.

WISP Networks offers a symmetrical Internet connection at speeds between 1 and 2 megabits per second, far faster than a DSL or cable modem. These blazing speeds produce impressive results for users. For example, using a 56k bits per second modem at its optimum speed, 39 minutes is required to download a 15 megabyte file. Using WISP Network's service, the same file takes only 90 seconds to download or upload!

Since the product is wireless, WISP Networks can bring an office building online within five to seven working days after an order is signed. "Everyone likes the cost of our service, particularly in light of our rapid installations, reliability, and high speed connection," said Grezlovski. "Our fees are simple: Only $299 per month for a 1-2 Mbps always on connection to the Internet." Unlike the phone company, WISP Networks does not charge a local loop fee. Services include ISP and email options as well as other value added solutions such as website hosting and data storage and recovery. "Installation charges are equally simple too," she said. "Basically a one time fee of $500 gets you started."
